Title and department at UNMC/ Nebraska Medicine: Stanley Truhlsen Jr. Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology and director, retina and uveitis service, UNMC Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences

Research/professional interests: As part of the growing department of ophthalmology/Truhlsen Eye Institute, my primary clinical interests involve the care of patients with uveitis, an inflammatory condition of the eye, which may be caused by infectious or noninfectious, autoimmune diseases. I also enjoy caring for patients with diabetes, macular degeneration, retinal vascular disease and retinal surgical conditions to improve their vision health. Our research team's interests include programs to understand the impact of Ebola, COVID-19, and emerging infectious diseases on the eye in the United States and sub-Saharan Africa, as well as immune mechanisms of disease and novel therapies for uveitis.
