Update on the Management of Ocular Surface Squamous Neoplasia featuring Carol Karp, MD

Carol L. Karp, MD, is known as an expert in the management of ocular surface tumors. She is a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Considered a pioneer in the use of interferon and management of ocular surface squamous neoplasia, Dr. Karp has numerous publications in this area. Her clinical and research interests focus on surface tumors, and more recently in the use of the ultra high resolutionocular coherence tomography in the management of surface cancers.

She is active in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, having served on the Ophthalmic Technology Assessment committee, Skills Transfer committee, Ophthalmic Technology Assessment committee, Monograph committee, and Practicing Ophthalmologist Curriculum committee.

On her free time, Dr. Karp enjoys running on the boardwalk of Miami Beach. She can be spotted in the wee hours of the morning pushing her 2 children in a double jogging stroller.

In addition to managing ocular surface tumors, Dr. Karp performs corneal transplants, cataract surgery and lens replacement, and LASIK surgery.
